Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos is a a Real Time Strategy game much like StarCraft but in the Warcraft universe. This game is also available as a Mac game.
Warcraft 3 give you four different players you can play. Humans, Orcs, Night Elves and Undead. The two latter races are new to the story line.
It was one of the most anticipated games when announced, and the game won many awards including Game of the Year for more than six publications. 4,5 million pre orders and 1 million copies sold within a month might dictate its popularity.
The game was equipped with a new 3D engine, and thus it looked a lot better than the older games.
The gameplay and story line was changed a bit comparing to other RTS games Blizzard have. Many objectives in each campaign was revealed whilst playing the campaign and in the start you only got the main objective presented.
The campaign mode is divided into four different ones, where each of them features a different race to play. And then you have chapters in the campaigns. Another new feature introduced was heroes. They joined you while playing and increased in level with experience points as you went on playing. This added a role playing element into the game.
Multiplayer is also a big part of this game as many of Blizzard other games. With multiplayer you could compete against other people around the globe,
The game also supports custom made maps, when installing the game you get a tool where you can make them. One specific custom made map called: Defense of the Ancients often called DotA, have gained a lot of success. Featured in a tournament at Blizzcon in 2005.
The Frozen Throne
Frozen Throne is the official expansion set to Warcraft III. This expansion requires the original game to play. The expansion includes new units for each race, four new campaigns, five heroes where three more was added later on and the ability to build shops amongst many other improvements. Like patches and bugfixes.
Like the original game the expansion was well received amongst reviewers and critics.
