You should take advantage of a used MacBook

You really need that computer ... so you figured a used MacBook or used MacBook Pro is something for you to consider.

Right ...

Apple updates their Mac laptops once a year, roughly - give or take a few months. When all people go running around like crazy to get the next big thing they often sell their computers in favor of the next shiny updated one.

You should take advantage of this!

Why ... ?

- Because you still get a Mac, you still get a computer with Mac OS X and that is what a Mac laptop is all about. It is all about the operating system.

- You will save a lot of money because a used macbook is not worth as much as a new one, of course. How stupid of me to even mention this?

- You still get all software which makes the Mac a Mac...

But will it run my software?

If you play new and high demanding games I am just going to say no right now, just to keep things simple. I like simple ... However if you perform everyday tasks on your computer then yes, it will run just fine.

How do I define everyday tasks?

- surfing the web
- writing and checking e-mail
- keep track of your pictures
- use office software to do your finances or write letters
- listening to music
- perform banking tasks

The list can go on but I have experienced that most users do what I have stated above, and to be honest that doesn't need much horsepower from your computer. Even I do not need all the power in the Mac I am using to write this text...

What about warranty?

Well ... that is a risk you need to take to save some money. Maybe you get lucky and find one with warranty left. Or even better one with the AppleCare Protection plan that gives three years of warranty after the purchase.

If the object your are considering to buy is in good condition then go for it! But remember to use some plain old common sense!

Where can I get a used MacBook?

eBay, the number one auction site on the web. You will without doubt find what you are looking for there. However do your research on the seller, check the feedback and try to be careful if you need to pay in advance. I am sure you will find what you are looking for and when you have your new Mac in house come back to this website for further help and instructions if you wish.
