The Next Big Thing - A monstrous game

I had the opportunity to try out a new game from Pendulo Studios. The game is called the next big thing and is an point and click adventure game. I did grow up with the original Monkey Island and Lucasarts games. After that era not many developers continued with this genre. That is why I am happy to see Pendulo Studios giving some love to the point and click genre and release new games. The game is released for the Mac platform as well. More games for the Mac platform is always good in my book.

We start off with two journalists, Liz and Dan. They are sent out to cover a big gala dinner hosted by William Fitzrandolph a millionaire and the creator of the movie-studio MKO. Oh and did I mention? he is a monster.

MKO organizes the monsters acting in Hollywoods horror-movies. The world is full of monsters you see and, MKO and Fitzrandolph was the one responsible for giving monsters the same rights as other human beings.

In a world where real monsters play in horror-movies not everything is as it seems at first glance. As the game progresses this will be more clear... The story is divided into chapters and you get to control both journalists. Two completely different characters I might add.

The dialogue is at times pretty strange but fun at the same time. What I really like about this game is the characters and the different environments you get presented with. It is difficult to get bored with this game for sure.

Point and Click adventure games often contain riddles for you to solve. Here most of them are pretty logical but some bizarre ones may show up. If you haven't played this kind of game before you can adjust the difficulty setting in the start of the game. This will give you hints so you can solve some of the riddles if you are stuck.

The Next Big Thing delivers a solid dose of good voice acting, funny humor and beautiful graphics.
