Quake has a special place in my heart, it was my first experience with fun, online gaming.
Quake has a special place in my heart. I remember when it was released. We hid ourselves in the schools computer room, turned down the lights and created internal servers which we played on during recess. This game was one of the first game that got me into online gaming. Many hours was spent online with my mothers modem gaming with people from all around the globe.
When ID Software released Quake 2 we didn't really care so much about it, we still went on with the original game for a long long time.
Now of course I have other things to do than playing all day, but wouldn't it be nice to refresh the memories once in a while?
This game was originally released just for the PC platform, and there was no Mac client available in the beginning. As the game got older ID Software decided to release the source code of their game so others could take advantage of the graphics engine.
When ID Software did this they made it possible for people to port the game to other operating systems including .... yes, you guessed right. Mac OS X. !
Now you can enjoy this historic game on your Mac!. The only thing you need to have is the original data-files from the game, you can find them on the CD. If you have those you are just a few minutes away from playing. Go to http://www.fruitz-of-dojo.de and download the client. You will be up and running in no time. Oh, and did i mention ... the client is free!
