The MacBook Laptops and what you need to know
When Apple released the MacBook Laptops to the market they became extremely popular. The Apple MacBook Pro and other Apple Laptops soon gained a large momentum in sales and customer satisfaction.
Apple continuously update these notebooks with new software or hardware features. Latest updates include the beautiful and sturdy aluminum enclosure, bumped speeds and the little 13 inch joining the Pro lineup.
Why do these Apple Laptops gain so much in popularity?
I am going to tell you why ...
They replaced the already highly successful iBook and Powerbook with these new MacBooks. In that process Apple also switched over to Intel CPUs. While doing this they could increase the performance while still keeping the energy requirements lower. In the same time updating Mac OS X with new features and more streamlined performance more and more people switched over to the Mac.
The transition to Intel CPUs also made it possible to install Windows, Apple made sure to give people less reasons for not switching over. If you had one Windows application where you could not find a good enough alternative for the Mac, just install BootCamp, problem solved!
Even easier solutions exist now, you do not even have to reboot the Mac anymore to access Windows. If you are not doing anything intensive you could get by just fine using virtualization software. Have Windows running inside Mac OS X. You can even make it so that the Windows application you need look like it is a native Mac OS X application, without having the Windows desktop showing.... I got to say we definitely have some smart software engineers out there ... All respect to you.
But the Mac is expensive...?
You are right, if you compare the specifications of MacBook Laptops to their Windows PC counterpart usually the Apple Laptops are more expensive. So why should you buy one in the first place, if you can get a Windows PC for a cheaper price ...?
First I would like you to try out one of the MacBook Laptops. I do not mean clicking a little bit 5 minutes in a store somewhere, or well... you could do that just to get a feel for it but try to arrange so you can use it for a while. You will probably notice that work will flow a lot easier and uninterrupted compared to Windows and you might just start liking what you see. Even if you are one of those anti-mac people.
I assume you have heard this before but here goes. The MacBook Laptops is not so much about the CPU speed, the amount of RAM you have, the graphics card, the hard drive size ... It is about everything working together seamlessly without any annoying problems. You get pre - installed high quality software and that is worth a lot in my opinion. I wont say that the specifications is NOT important at all, you still would like a high performing notebook and you get that. Because of the optimized software and the operating system. Mac OS X Snow Leopard will be even better of using the resources correctly.
Ok you have convinced me, now what?
