The iPod nano is the iPod that have been through the most changes since its release.

The iPod nano is the iPod that have been through the most changes since its release. You now get it in double capacity compared to the previous generation. 8GB and 16GB of flash memory storage. It also now contains the sensor which can register the way it is hold. This makes it possible to add a few other cool features to the product line. Also let us find out where to buy a super cheap iPod nano, for that check the end of this page.

When you buy the player you get the usual accessories like the ear buds and cable to transfer the songs from your computer. The player itself got a real overhaul on the outside compared to the previous generation. It is now oval shaped and thinner than ever before. The design provides a more exclusive feel, and Nano delivers an outstanding quality impression, despite the minimal thickness.

iPod Nano 4 Generation The well known iPod wheel sits on the front of the player and follows the curved shape of the unit. On the top we find the switch for locking the keys. The bottom contains the audio jack and the plug for connecting the player to a computer. Design wise I think this is a hit compared the the previous generation.

User friendly

Apple have taken the user friendliness step even further. In the main menu you select between music, video, photo, extra and settings. Despite of this you can if you want change this menu to your liking. You can remove and add elements to the root menu. When you enter the music menu you can select to organize the music by artist, album, track, genre and composer. You also have own choices for playlists, audiobooks, search and the new genius feature which I personally love!

Genius?

With genius Apple have made a database of songs it knows fit together. People using iTunes are helping Apple out with this task by sending data back to Apple about what songs they like and dislike. This way Apple can "guess" what songs you like comparing it to other peoples choices. You select one song you like and then invoke the genius feature. It will then create a playlist with songs that should match the song you originally selected. In my opinion this feature works pretty good. It might miss a few songs but all in all the playlist created are nice. Over time as Apple collect more data this feature will become better and better. Remember if you want the genius feature to work on your iPod you have to enable it in iTunes too.

iPod Nano is entertaining

If you thought this was only a music player you are wrong. The iPod Nano has other features as well. The screen for example is really god with natural contrast. Photos can be viewed with good quality and you can listen to music at the same time you are viewing photos. Also the photos will tilt in the way you hold the player. Watching video is as good as it can be on a 2-inch screen. With good frame-rate and synchronized sound. The video will play the same way you hold the unit and you can also remove black bars from the video if you want. But I would not really use this for watching full length video, the screen is just to small for that in my opinion.

You also get three built-in games if you need to kill some time. You can also buy more games from iTunes. Sync your calendar and contacts, create alarms, read text files, check the clock in different time zones or measure the time used when you run around the block.

If you need a small and thin iPod this definitely is the player for you. Available with a lot of color options and 8 / 16GB storage.
