What Is Mac OS X?, Do You Really Want To Know?

You may have heard people talking about Mac, OS, and maybe there was some kind of X in the discussion too. So, what is Mac OS X?

Mac OS X on PC - is that even possible?

When Apple switched to Intel processors the architecture of the computers became similar to a regular standard PC. There exist some differences though but smart people started to hack Mac OS X so it could be installed on a regular PC. This have created a common nickname "hackintosh".

Although the installation process becomes easier as the years are passing by it can still be a little bit demanding to make everything work. You often need specific computer components if you want everything to work in harmony. And you might be stuck tweaking your system and diving into configurations that might confuse the average computer user.

There is also the question about the legality of this. Some people argue that if they have an Mac OS X license they should be allowed to install it on a PC. It is a legal grey zone.
