If you want to know how to reset an iPod you came to the right place. We all love our music players but sometimes they have their annoyances and quirks. Instead of delivering your iPod to some store taking your money you can do a lot yourself actually. For the most part a reset is the only thing you need to do and then it will work fine again.
Why do I have to make an iPod reset anyway?
You need to try this if your iPod is unresponsive and if nothing happens when you connect it to your computer. This can happen if you disconnect your iPod without ejecting it from the computer. How to reset iPod Shuffle
This is pretty straight forward because there are just a few things you can do with the iPod Shuffle. First make sure you have disconnected it from the computer. Now move the switch to the off position. When you have it in the off position the green stripe next to the button is not visible. Wait 5 seconds and turn the iPod on again. It should now have been reset.
How to reset iPod Nano
These instructions are for all iPods with click wheel including the following: iPod nano, iPod nano (2nd generation), iPod nano (3rd generation), iPod nano (4th generation), iPod classic, iPod (5th generation), iPod (Click Wheel), iPod with color display (iPod photo), iPod mini and iPod mini (2nd generation).
This reset is easy, the only thing you need to do is to press and hold the Menu and Center button simultaneously, about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears. You might have better luck if you place the iPod on a table when you do this. Also you might have to try this reset several times until it works.
How to reset an iPod Touch
Make sure you have really turned your iPod touch completely off! To double check this press and hold the sleep/wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears. Turn the iPod touch off and on again. Does it work now? great! If not... read on.
So turning off and on didn't work? Ok, lets try making a real reset this time. It is quite easy, just press the sleep/wake button AND the home button at the same time for at least ten seconds. When the Apple logo appears the iPod Touch is now reset.
Still not working?
You can now impress all your iPod friends with your reset skills however, some times this doesn't work. If that is the case you might try a factory restore, if you can connect the iPod to the computer and access it from iTunes you can restore it from there.
