How do I reset my iPod Shuffle?

How do I reset my iPod Shuffle?, the instructions are easy to follow and you reset your iPod shuffle this way:

1. Disconnect the iPod Shuffle from the computer, and / or the dock.

2. Move the switch on the iPod to the off position.

3. Wait 5 seconds.

4. Move the switch to the ON position.

After performing these steps the ipod should now be reset. But in my opinion this just turns the ipod on and off. How can this reset the iPod?

If this doesn't solve the problem the best course of action would be to make a factory restore in iTunes. Remember that this will ERASE everything on your iPod so make sure you have backup of the songs somewhere. This will reinstall the ipod firmware and you will have to set up the iPod again.
