Use Bootcamp To Run Windows On A Mac
Yes that is right, you CAN run windows on a mac, with BootCamp. If you have an application which there is no substitute for in Mac OS X this makes it possible to run it anyway. When you install Windows on your Mac please know that this is a real install, it is not emulated or virtualized in any way, this is a native Windows installation on your Mac that requires a reboot. And thus, your Mac will be sensitive to all threats available for Windows users out there. It will now work just like a regular PC.
If you want to install Windows XP you need an installation CD with Service Pack 2 on it from the start, or else it wont work. Windows Vista is also possible to install this way. Easily.
To begin this process you need to find the Boot Camp-assistant application in your Application folder, then the Utilities folder. When you start the Application you will be greeted by a screen that follows you through the complete process which includes:
- Offers you to print out a handy guide if you have a printer connected.
- Resizing your Mac hard drive partition without damaging anything.
- Burns a driver CD for you so you do not have to crawl the web to find them yourself, and this driver CD supports all the features such as iSight, Apple Remote, trackpad, specific keyboard keys, keyboard backlighting and connectivity (wired and wireless).
You get everything up and running in no time. It is quite ironic but I read somewhere that the Mac was the best computer to run Windows on. I have tried both Windows XP, and Windows Vista on my MacBook and it works like a charm.
Also when you boot your Mac you get a stylish boot screen where you can select if you want to start Windows or Mac OS X. You can also set one operating system to boot as default so you do not have to choose between them every time.
Now do you have an argument for not buying that Mac ?
