Apple iPod Mini Reviews, The iPod Mini Is Discontinued
If you where looking for Apple iPod Mini Reviews you wont find it here. The iPod Mini was replaced by the iPod Nano line in 2005. As of this writing (July - 2009) Apple have released four different iPod Nano models. Or as other people like to say. iPod Nano 4G.
I have seen this confuse people. Some think the 4G stands for four gigabytes, the storage space. But it means it is the fourth generation iPod Nano.
iPod Nano Review - The Fourth Generation (4G)
The third generation iPod Nano was a little odd in its design, a bit square like. With the fourth generation Apple went back to their proven and successful design. With the capacity choice of 8GB or 16GB.
You Can Shake It
The built in motion sensor can detect the way you are holding the iPod. It will rotate the display of the menu depending on how you hold it. This way you can browse your music using cover flow. Cover Flow shows you the album covers, instead of the track list. Lastly you can shake the ipod to make it change to an random song in your library.
iPod Nano Stays True To The Original Concept
This is one of the most sexy and slim iPods made in my opinion. With its curved surface and solid metal enclosure. Even when it is this small (6 millimeters on its thickest) it feels absolutely sturdy.
The menu system is true to the original concept. Even if you only have used the original iPod released in 2001 you will be familiar with the menu system. They of course refine and add new features to the menu system but they also stay true to the core. It is not so difficult to understand why the iPods is one of the easiest music players to use.
Bad Sound?
Some sound-freaks will always complain and say that the iPod have horrible sound quality. You have to think about who this player is directed to, the mass market. Surely there might be players providing better earbuds or even better sound quality. However the sound-quality from the iPod is not horrible. The real issue here is the earbuds Apple ship with these players. They are not bad ... but not perfect. If you buy new earbuds you will probably notice increased sound quality.
So, as I said at the start this is not one of the Apple iPod Mini Reviews, because that player was discontinued in 2005. Instead I decided to give you an iPod Nano Review instead.
